Who is Jesus?

Jesus was born around 2,000 years ago.  He was born to a teenage virgin named Mary.  He grew up under the care of His earthly mother and father but Jesus was not just mere man.  He was the Son of the living God and came to Earth with a very specific purpose, to save the lost.

Around the age of 30, Jesus entered into His ministry and began performing miracles. Some of these were turning water into wine, raising people from the dead, healing the leper and restoring sight to the blind. As the Bible promised, Jesus was crusified on a Roman cross and buried in a borrowed tomb for 3 days.  On that third day, Jesus was raised from the dead and defeated once and for all the power of death and sin.  You and I can have victory in this life and eternal life through Jesus Christ and the free gift that He offers.

How do I recieve the free gift that Jesus has to offer?

First we must realize and admit that we are sinners.  We all are.  Everyone who has ever walked the face of the Earth except for Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God..."

Romans 6:23a says "For the wages of sin is death..."

That's bad news, huh? BUT WAIT... that is not the end of that verse.

Romans 6:23b goes on to say "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

That is GREAT NEWS!

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" Romans 10:9

When we do this, something incredible happens!  We recieve the Holy Spirit of God and He takes our old heart and gives us a new one.  He begins a work in us and promises to finish it.  He teaches us to love.

Jesus will return one day and we will live with Him forever in Paradise but until then, the Bible teaches us this in Romans 12:

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
